Our Program

Westview Theatre Company is an educational theatre company run as an extracurricular ASB club at Westview High School. Westview’s drama and theater tech classes are encouraged for company members, but not required. Play auditions, rehearsals, tech work, and performances are held after school.

WVTC started in Fall 2002 (as the Wolverine Theatre Guild) when Westview High opened. We also put on many other productions including One Acts, improv shows, student productions, and showcases.

The company participates in adjudication programs including the Broadway San Diego High School Musical Theatre Awards.

Mission Statement

The mission of the Westview Theatre Company is to develop students’ talents, skills and creativity in the theatre arts, through crafting and performing artistically excellent theatrical productions, preparing students for professional work and/or college education in the theatre arts, and creating a fun, stimulating environment for all students who enjoy participating in theatre.

Awards

Westview Theatre Company’s regional and festival awards for productions and individual student achievement have included:

• 3 CETA Main Stage Winning Plays (1st place in SD region)

• 4 CETA Scene Festival Winning Plays (2nd or 3rd place in SD region)

• Many Fullerton Theatre Festival finalists and winners

• Many National Youth Arts Awards nominees and winners

• 7 Broadway San Diego High School Musical Theatre Awards finalists

Alumni in the Theatre Arts

Students from our program have gone on to study theatre arts (acting, theater tech, directing, musical theatre, and theater education) at a wide variety of universities.

Several of our alumni act/have acted professionally in regional theater and national touring companies. One of our WVTC alumni, Kelly Marie Tran, played Rose Tico in Star Wars: Episode VIII and IX (The Last Jedi and The Rise of Skywalker). Read the 92129 Magazine article about Kelly!
